With a stolen Falcon knife, Ali Gordon of Longbeard Isle sets a trap for the invading Falcon soldiers. She wears her clan tattoos along with a marriage and motherhood tattoo. To look at her now, you would not believe that one of her ancestors was the engineer on a spacecraft that traveled between star systems. The simple trip line she has set up may cause the patrolling soldiers to stop, becoming stationary targets for poison darts from blow guns hidden nearby. Or it may be designed to cause the soldiers to jump over it only to land on a hidden punji pit with sharpened stakes driven into their feet, ankles, and calves. It may cause them to take cover in the jungle off the trail only to encounter even worse traps hidden in the thick undergrowth. Or cutting the trip line may cause a log with spikes to swing down out of the surrounding forest and impact the soldiers. Or it may be just a decoy trip line that does nothing but add to the soldier's stress level. On Planet Archipelago a human enemy may be just as deadly as any alien enemy.
